Spearheaded by Jim McGowan and Tamara Marshall BEAT Barbados has a mission to bring artistes and audiences together thereby enabling artistic and creative expression. In 2010 they hosted BEAT|one – The Search which was a female vocalist competition. The prize - a studio recording and the once in a life time opportunity to be part of a CD of the Who’s Who among Barbadian female vocalists.  The winners would be included on a CD entitled BEAT|one which featured artistes such as iNDRANi, Tamara Marshall and Marissa Lindsay. The field went from 63 entrants to two winners which were Leanne Vanessa Humphrey and Shenise Marshall.

According to Executive Director of the BMA, Bobbi McKay “BMEX is a showcase of Barbadian talent, whether that be manufacturing, fashion and graphic design, animation or music.  We want to celebrate the finest that Barbados has to offer in its various forms and create opportunities for exporting that talent.  We have to start to examine the non-traditional income generating sectors of our economies and package them in the interest of national development.  We need to encourage our young people to utilize their talents whatever they are so that they may become productive members of our society”. To this end, if music is your passion and you have the talent, discipline and determination to succeed, opportunities can be generated to help develop and expose that talent. BMEX has and continues to be an excellent avenue for developing and exporting such talent.

Live Nightly Entertainment, June 11th and 12th, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm in the Flamboyant Room of the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. Don’t miss it.
